Katerina Wong is a native of New Jersey but has been a part of the San Francisco dance community since 2012. She graduated cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in Anthropology and a minor in East Asian Studies and Dance. While at Princeton, she had the honor of studying with and performing works by Mark Morris, Twyla Tharp, Susan Marshall, Camille A. Brown, Zvi Gotheiner, Rebecca Lazier, Cherylyn Lavagnino, Ze'eva Cohen and Tina Fehlandt. Her choreography was selected for at the inaugural "IVIES @ CUNNINGHAM" festival in New York City. She was also the Artistic Director of Princeton's student-run BodyHype Dance Company and was a member of the Princeton Triangle Club. After graduating, Katie moved to Beijing as a Princeton-in-Asia Teaching Fellow with a post at China Foreign Affairs University. While there, she had the opportunity to train with Beijing LDTX/Modern Dance Company, assistant-direct and choreograph for the Future Dance Ensemble of Peking University, and launch a series of dance workshops for the Migrant Children's Foundation. Since relocating to San Francisco, she has had the pleasure of dancing with a number of companies including RAWdance, LEVYdance, Printz Dance Project, Concept o4, PUSH Dance Company, Bellwether Dance Project, Sculpted Motion, Blind Tiger Society, Project Tremolo, ka-nei-see | collective, and Ziru Dance. She has also performed as a guest artist for Robert Moses' KIN, Dexandro Montalvo, ODC, the San Francisco Symphony, Cera Byer, Jenni Bregman and Ronnie Reddick. She has been featured in numerous dance films by Concept o4, two of which have been screened at the tiny dance film festival. Katerina has had the opportunity to tour to Beijing, Mexico, St. Thomas, Atlanta, Chicago, Washington D.C. and throughout California. In 2015, she was the dance consultant for a startup dance app called "Jounce". Katerina is also a freelance choreographer. She has been invited to present her work at the San Francisco International Arts Festival, West Wave Dance Festival, RAWdance's Concept Series, LEVYdance Salon, ODC Theater's TAKE 5, San Jose Dance Company's ChoreoProject, The CuttingBall Theater's AvantGARDARAMA, and PianoFight. She served as Resident Choreographer for PUSH Dance Company, creating 3 original works for their annual PUSHfest at ODC Theater from 2014-2016. Katie was also the choreographer for dance theatre company, Brickabrack, both for their inaugural work, "Stalking Christopher Walken" which was awarded Best of SF Fringe Festival, as well as their evening-length production "Never Fall So Heavily Again..." which premiered at Dance Mission Theater in 2014. In the summer of 2016, Katie premiered a new evening-length work "Speck" at CounterPulse as FACT/SF's JuMP Choreographic Commissioning Program’s selected artist. Katie's work has been presented at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Z Space, ODC Theater, CounterPulse, the San Francisco War Memorial's Green Room, Dance Mission Theater, Joe Goode Annex, Fort Mason, PianoFight, The Cutting Ball Theater, California Academy of Sciences and more. In the fall of 2017, Katie was invited to collaborate on a story for Pop-Up Magazine's Fall Issue and tour, bringing dance to their show for the first time. They toured to 6-cities including a performance at Lincoln Center in NYC. Katie served as the Digital Strategist for Alonzo King LINES Ballet for over 5 years reinventing their social media and digital marketing presence. She is currently the Associate Artistic Director for RAWdance.
