Crooked and Dangerous
Crooked and Dangerous is a multimedia dance theater duet that illuminates the fear, insanity, and disillusionment surround the 2016 presidential elections.
Developed and choreographed by Katerina in close collaboration with performers Suzy and Louis Acquisto, the dynamic and physical duet features spoken text, video installation and an original sound score that weaves together sound bites, news coverage and commentary from the months leading up to the controversial 2016 election. Together, the elements weave a nonlinear narrative that explores anti-feminism, immigration, populism, and the role social media plays in our national conversation. Commissioned by Cutting Ball Theater as a part of it’s mixed bill festival, Avant GardARAMA, from Oct 5-23, 2016.

Press
"'Crooked and Dangerous,' has real merit; dancers Louis Acquisto and Suzy Myre achieve the impressive feat of recontextualizing sound bites from the election so that you hear them afresh, as decontextualized bits of writing worthy of a literary (and for them, a fiercely physicalized) close read."
—Lily Janiak, SF Chronicle
"‘Crooked and Dangerous’ is a political movement piece in every sense of the term. For some present and potential horrors, there are no words, making this richly choreographed and staged piece all the more meaningful. Performers Suzy Myre and Louis Acquisto leave nothing on the stage in one of the most moving and relevant works I’ve seen this year."
