So honored to show a new work at this year's SFIAF! And I had the honor to curate my evening, and invite two companies who I respect and adore, ka.nei.see l collective and Detour Dance for a shared bill.
My newest piece, 36 Questions, explores the concepts of intimacy, vulnerability, tolerance and human connection through the lens of scientific procedure. Inspired by psychologist Arthur Aron’s well-known study and its recent resurgence in pop culture, 36 Questions utilizes his sequence of increasingly penetrating prompts to unearth the foundation of human relationships through a shared experience of mutual vulnerability. Dancers: Alex Carrington, Shareen DeRyan, Juliann Witt and Katerina Wong Fri. June 5 9:00pm Sat. June 6 4:30pm Sun. June 7 8:00pm Fort Mason's Fleet Room Tickets: $20-$25 General Admission http://www.sfiaf.org/katerina_wong_36_questions |
PUSH Dance Company was invited to perform at the Four Seasons for the Museum of African Diaspora's annual black tie gala. Utilizing movement from Point Shipyard Project, PUSH welcomed guests in an installation piece throughout the corridors and dining areas of the party space. It was a great experience!

RAWdance presents its 10th Anniversary season at Z Space, featuring two world premieres. Turing’s Apple, created in collaboration with acclaimed New York composer Richard Einhorn, takes its inspiration from the life and work of famed 20th century British mathematician and cryptographer, Alan Turing. This full company work also features scenic design by Sean Riley and costumes by Mary Domenico. Lighting design for the full evening is by David Szlasa.
The second premiere on the program, Burn In, is a dark, mesmerizing, and psychologically driven trio, featuring sound design by Joel St. Julien. Inspired by Rorschach imagery and the shadowy, stark world of film noir, the piece offers a study in contrast, both visual and emotional. The special anniversary program will be rounded out with works by two choreographers who are part of RAWdance’s extended family: Gretchen Garnett & Dancers, and Tanya Bello’s Project B. |
